On This Year of Anniversary – Love Poems
I went through the motions in the beginning,
Tried to make sure you were real.
I’ve grown to fear because of the others,
But after a year I deem you ideal.
Filled with more passion than lust I was grinning.
Everything I’ve ever wanted, trusting and faithful, he’ll
Be the one, I know it. We’ll be nothing but great lovers!
Yet a year of ups and downs has unwillingly cast me into a contract under the signet seal
Of some great king. Together forever, and spinning
Into the perilous depths of scolding molten in a crucible of steel.
Honey I’m not happy anymore, you won’t give me what I need most, drummers
Will never march to our glorious bedroom, because there is NO appeal.
In all of our dismissing
The problem is here; more obvious and more genteel
Than ever. On this year of anniversary our love punctures
Our hearts, and the colors of our memories fall with nothing less than a wretched squeal.
